Born in Puebla Mexico, Pedro came to the U.S. when he was just nine years old. Growing up in the San Diego area, he encountered and overcame his own struggles as an immigrant, which contributes to his passion for his work at NCICC and helping others in their journey towards citizenship. Pedro is NCICC's Case Manager, but his role cannot be simply defined. In the past five years, Pedro has worn many hats. He currently maintains several different roles overseeing the office, teaching drivers ed classes, helping out with the provision of legal services to clients and taking care of the organization's finances.
In undergrad, Pedro studied Business Administration and social science, and in graduate school he studied to become a therapist, eventually earning his Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. At NCICC Pedro uses these skills on a daily basis. Pedro's favorite part about working with NCICC is building relationships with clients. He loves meeting new people and hearing their stories. Speaking of NCICC's clients Pedro says, "I think we all have stories. You have your own story and your experiences shape you. You can't change the past, but you can learn from the past, and you can learn to live in the present. You have control over your thoughts and emotions. You have the autonomy to choose how you will live and how you want to change and where you want to go. The past is already written, it's how you choose to write your story from now on that matters." Pedro's words are an inspiration. We are so thankful to have him on staff here at NCICC.

Nacido en Puebla, México, Pedro llegó a los Estados Unidos a los nueve años. Creció en San Diego y se enfrentó con sus propias luchas como inmigrante, Pedro es un apasionado de corazón por su trabajo en NCICC y por ayudar a otros encontrar su camino hacia la ciudadanía. En NCICC, Pedro trabaja como coordinador del centro, pero su papel no puede definirse simplemente. En los últimos cinco años que Pedro ha trabajado en NCICC, ha tenido varias responsabilidades. Actualmente supervisa la 0ficina, ayuda con la provisión de servicios legales a los clientes y administra las finanzas de la organización. En la universidad Pedro estudió Administración de Empresas y ciencias sociales y en la escuela de posgrado estudió para convertirse en terapeuta, obteniendo su Maestría en Terapia de Matrimonio y Familia. En NCICC, Pedro utiliza estas habilidades a diario. La parte favorita de Pedro sobre su trabajo en NCICC es la hermosa amistad que construye con los clientes. Le encanta conocer gente nueva y escuchar sus historias. Hablando de los clientes de NCICC, Pedro dice: "Creo que todos tenemos historias. Tienes tu propia historia y tus experiencias te dan forma. No puedes cambiar el pasado, pero puedes aprender del pasado, y puedes aprender a vivir en el presente. Tienes control sobre tus pensamientos y emociones. Tienes la autonomía para elegir cómo vivirás y cómo quieres cambiar y hacia dónde quieres ir. El pasado ya está escrito, lo que importa es cómo eliges escribir tu historia a partir de ahora ". Las palabras de Pedro son una inspiración y estamos muy agradecidos y bendecidos de que él sea parte del personal de NCICC.
